Help needed with rent for 26/11 victim - Bombay

Excerpts from http://indiahelps.blogspot.com/2009/10/help-needed-with-rent-for-2611-victim.html are below:

I went with Santosh Singh (Poonam Singh's husband) and Sachin (son) to Dr Panchal at Mahim. Dr Panchal made us take an x-ray and felt that there perhaps no chance. The ring finger on Sachins left hand, one joint is not there. It has fused to become one stiff bone with no mobility. He said that plastic surgery could take care of the bump.
He has guided us to another doctor at Chembur, called Dr Hemant Pathankar who specialises in hand surgery. I called him, he has asked me to call him next Wednesday night at 9 pm for next Thursday appt. I may not manage to go next Thursday.

Santosh Singh needs help - Rs 1500/- pm towards rent. He came down to the base of the slum and got a home with an attached toilet as Poonam lacks mobility (She was injured on her legs and is currently undergoing physiotherapy to regain mobility). I had promised to help if he moved down. The rent is Rs 3000/- pm. We need to pitch in with Rs 1500/- pm.

As I had asked for proof, he has given me a copy of the rent agreement. He also gave me bills worth Rs 1500/- for Poonam's treatment.

Edited to add: If you would like to help Poonam Singh with Rs 1500/- pm, please do write in to us and we will forward you the bank account details for Santosh and Poonam Singh. We need only 10 kind souls to chip in with Rs 1500/- to enable this lady live a life of dignity.

Boarding Expenses of 35 Visually Challenged People - Maharashtra

For the two PDFs that came with this mail, mail them. - Chandni

From gsp.rural@gmail.com
August 5, 2009
Subject: Needed Support for VTC for Blind & Handicapped

Dear Friends,

Grameen Shramik Pratishthan is a development organization based in small
village called Budhoda of Latur Economic district.

Organisation works for the rehabilitation of rural person with
disability since 1984.

rehabilitation of rural persons with disability is critical issue as
employment opportunities are limited in rural area and able people are
unemployed or forced to migrate.

We provide vocational training to visually challenged persons in
handloom weaving and also give employment opportunity after completion
of training in Sheltered Workshop.

We have developed handloom weaving as suitable and sustainable
livelihood for rural visually challenged persons. We have promoted
SWADHAR a social brand for products manufactured by disabled persons in
local market.

For more details please visit http://gsp.50webs.org

Presently 30 differently able people are working in sheltered workshop
and earn Rs. 60-70 per day on regular basis. Our aim is to provide
stable and remunerative employment opportunity to 100 rural disabled
persons in next three years.

Our vocational training center receives non-residential grant support by
state govt. (the center qualifies for residential support but
bureaucrats have kept it under red tap to exploit the situation for
personal benefit)

However, our center provides residential facility to 35 differently able
people as in rural parts vocational training center for PWD need to be
residential.

We are looking for support to meet boarding expenses of 35 trainees so a
residential facility can be provided to visually challenged trainees.
Estimated cost is Rs. 600 per trainee per month (Rs.7,200 for one year.)
We appeal you to extend generous support for this noble
cause and also suggest potential individual and institutional donors.

Sincerely

Prashant H. Sude

Programme Coordinator
