Sir/Madam
THIS IS NOT JUST ANOTHER LETTER THAT YOU READ IN A DAY WHEN YOU SEE THE SNAP OF CHILD ATTACHED WITH IT, WANT TO LIVE HER LIFE TO THE FULLEST. WE KNOW WE ARE LATE TO SEEK SUCH A FINANCIAL ASSITANCE FROM YOU BUT IT IS BETTER LATE THEN NEVER. PLEASE TREAT IT AS MOST URGENT AND HUMBLE REQUEST FROM OUR SIDE.
My 2.5yrs old
daughter AMBIKA is suffering from a genetic disorder Beta Thalassemia
Major. She is unable to produce her blood and needs blood transfusion every
20-25 days to lead a normal life and these transfusions are really a painful
process for a child of her age and that to from birth. Arranging regular donors
and other hospital procedures make our life cumbersome. Till date she has got 22
blood transfusions, it cost us INR 3000-4000 per transfusion.
This situation of blood transfusion has become more complicated when IRON in the body starts accumulating and surely results in DEATH due to vital organ failure. To take out this excess iron we have to put needles again in her skin that is attached to iron pump which contains medicines (Inj. “Desferral”) for 8-10hrs daily, which makes her life more miserable.
Permanent cure of Thalassemia is BMT (Bone Marrow Transplant). AMBIKA is in supervision of Dr. Mammen Chandy at CMC Vellore, where her HLA has mapped with her elder sister GAURI (Bone marrow donor), hospital no. 487127D. These medical exercises have already cost us a huge sum.
Dr. Mammen Chandy has given us an estimate cost of INR 12,00,000.00 for BMT. He has also slotted date for us in August, 2009 at short notice.
I father of AMBIKA working as a pharmacist in G.T.B Hospital, Shahdra, Delhi, Delhi govt. We are a family of four persons and dependent parents, my salary is not enough to meet these expenses. Moreover Cost of BMT becomes mammoth when we have to stay vellore for 3-5 months and we have to be in touch with doctors there post BMT (3-5 visits per annum for 2-3years) for check-ups.
Till date I have tried on my level best to get financial assistance for health department, Govt. of NCT Delhi but since CMC Vellore is private institution situated outside headquarters and is not on panel of Delhi Govt. Employees Health Scheme (DHS), I have not got any help from there. CMC Vellore is our only hope as they have given us 85% success rate in BMT of AMBIKA in India.
All contributions to be made directly in favor of “Treasurer, CMC Hospital” payable at Vellore with Patient Hospital No. 486153D (Ambika Saraswat) mentioned on the covering letter.
